walk & talk therapy

Take your next session outdoors.

Walk and Talk Therapy combines the traditional benefits of counseling with the restorative power of movement and nature. This approach offers a refreshing alternative to the four walls of an office, allowing the fresh air and natural landscape of Grand Haven to provide a supportive, grounding backdrop for your growth.

Why Choose Walk and Talk?
For many, sitting face-to-face in a clinical setting can feel intense or restrictive. Incorporating gentle movement can help "break the ice" and make it easier to process complex emotions.

  • Mind-Body Connection: Physical activity releases endorphins, which can naturally reduce anxiety and improve mood.

  • A New Perspective: Changing your physical environment often helps shift your mental perspective.

  • Reduced Pressure: Walking side-by-side can feel less intimidating than direct eye contact, allowing for a more organic flow of conversation.

  • Nature’s Calm: The fresh air and scenic views of Lake Michigan provide a grounding backdrop for deep personal work.

How It Works
We will meet at a pre-arranged, secluded outdoor location in Grand Haven. During our sessions, we take specific measures to maintain the professional boundary of our work.

  • Discreet Interaction: We walk at a comfortable pace, which is set entirely by you. This is not a fitness workout, but a "moving" therapy session. To any passerby, we simply look like two people engaged in a quiet, private conversation.

  • Proactive Planning: If we see others approaching, we can naturally pause our conversation or shift topics until we have regained our space.

  • Confidentiality First: Before our first outdoor session, we will establish a "privacy plan" so you know exactly how we will handle any social encounters.

  • Flexibility: If the West Michigan weather doesn't cooperate, we can always transition to a traditional indoor session or a telehealth appointment.

  • Accessibility: We will choose paths that match your comfort level and physical needs.

Ready to Step Forward?
